Before the advent of super malls, Escolta street was the place where Manilenyos did their shopping. During the American colonial period until about the mid-70's, Escolta was the place to be. It had everything from imported goods and fashion, as well as the most modern gadgets of its time.
Escolta is not the same as it was years ago but it still bears the mark of its bright past with historical architecture and landmarks that could still be found here. Escolta still holds a special place in the hearts and minds of Manilenyos.

"I hope it would be maintained well by Park and Development. It is my first time to see one of the biggest clock in Manila except the clock in Manila City Hall which is poorly maintained and was not working long time ago."

I remember when I was a child that when we pass this bridge from Quiapo, I brace myself and wait till our car reaches the tip of it down to Lawton. It's like your in a roller coaster and it'll tickle your stomach. hehehehe.
