Where I usually sit down to read my books or wait for my friends to pass by on our way to TARC...well there's also the fountain just a few steps away from the 2nd Dapitan gate, but this is where I choose to sit most of the time, because I can see the interactive fountain across the street from my vantage point and all. The hallway/walkway is also where the HS students put up their booths for their foodfest/school fair ^^ The cafeteria has some pretty neat picks for lunch fare too. I particularly like their cheesecake slices for dessert. Also somewhat behind this building are the laboratories...

Where we met with our thesis adviser (Ma'am Sonia Javier! Kumusta na?) and discussed our written thesis and our thesis presentations with her.

Where the students enrolling are usually waiting and waiting for the line to move...
  • UST Health Service, aSkal (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Well the only time I ever went to the health service was when my chronic tonsilitis acted up and caused me extreme pain. They only gave me painkillers though... I decided to just go to my ENT over at USTH for a more permanent fix (no, I didn't opt for tonsilectomy though)

Well interesting idea about making the main building into a museum. I would love to see more of the museum's collection myself, actually. Those in display though need to be maintained more dutifully. The last time I came to visit, some of the stuffed animals in display (the large St.Bernard dog, and the tiger, tamaraw/carabao) were gathering dust... I like the fact that they also allow students to play on the piano on the second floor...

Well being that I was an irregular student >.> Not all of my classes were at the main building, even though my course major was under Science. Still, I must admit that the building is indeed a testament to ingenious engineering, I've never felt earthquakes while taking my laboratory subjects on the fourth floor. The "Virtues" are also interesting motifs to the overall design. There are rumors of ghosts and the like, but I don't really believe in them because I've never seen any in all my years of being a student here (and there was a time while waiting for our bus for a school trip, my batchmates and I managed to remain in the building until past 12am...maybe even 3am? and still no ghosts) I attribute the stories to the building's long history.
  • Botanical Garden, aSkal (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
This has so much potential for improvements. Saying that though, I find that as it is, it's a good place to relax too, especially the swing (when, by some miracle, no one is using/sitting)...I remember my rushed yet colorful sketches of the plants here for Botany... There's also the doves or "white pigeons"...aka "Asthma" to one of my batchmates ^^' And there are the butterflies present in one of the enclosures. There are turtles too in the pond, and of course the monkeys >.>' (they get a little rowdy at times) I like the enclosure with the ferns myself though. I dunno why, but I just do

The "shortcut" at the sides of the chapel which lead to the CAL labs are convenient, especially when I just finished my exams (which I at times had to take at the CAL labs)...dasal agad na sana umubra ang pag-rereview sa exams ^^'

Where I was baptised, when my family still lived in the Dapitan area...
  • Padre Noval Gym, aSkal (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Where parents usually wait for their kids to finish the grueling enrollment procedures...

Oh, I forgot to mention, this is where I took my Fitness (where you learn how to compute for calories and carbs, and lug around dumbbells) and Social Dance classes. Social Dance class was great. Nice jazz pants to go along with the uniform (the top sort of looks like bowling shirts though, as our professor said/noted ^^') and because it was dance class, you get to wear high heels hehe.

Where I sometimes watch players practice, when I have free time. Also where I ws able to watch some of my salinggawi classmates practice. Also where as a freshette, I was given the basic "UST Cheers" by the UST Pepsquad members...fun times. Outside, there's the PE uniform place...
  • Grandstand, aSkal (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
To the left of the stage (if you're facing the stage), the Paskuhan Christmas Tree is put up in that spot. Also this is where we used to practice and this is where some of the other PE classes practice. Behind the grandstand, the CAT and ROTC HQs, and the toilets (where some of the students from swimming classes change if the shower rooms near the swimming pools are too full...like in my case >.>)
  • University of Santo Tomas Athletic Field and Open Spaces, aSkal (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Where Toni Gonzaga's "I love Piolo" commercial was shot. This is a memorable place for me, Paskuhan for the four years I was a Bio student, and the two years after that, plus the concerts and Baccalaureate Mass, the soccer games, watching some students practice juggling bottles (for bartending, I guess) and there's also that Ecology transect line exercise, quadrant exercise and so on...
  • Plaza Mayor, aSkal (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
well there's now space for the graduating students to assemble before the Baccalaureate Mass (this was true for my case). Also the benches across are good, though it's kinda useless when they're wet from the rain, or too hot from the sun exposure. Still, the open space does come in handy for concerts or presentations and the like which involve the main building...there have been quite a number of those since the park's construction, after all. The tiles though are not very rain-friendly...it does turn into a pond of sorts when it rains really hard >.> And I've slipped while walking through this open area...more than once (but maybe that's just me, being unlucky)
  • Plaza Benavides, aSkal (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
The latter part of this walkway is unofficially known as "Lover's Lane"...also a favorite place for those who practice group presentations, cheer dances, reporting etc. I know I've had my share of practice sessions here, though the electric socket space is quite hard to wrangle from other groups using them. Also becareful of insect bites ^^...especially now that it's rainy. I was able to see the devastation left by Milenyo here, some time ago...many of the trees were lucky not to have gone down during that typhoon... Haha, this is also where we did our Botany exercise (identifying the genus and species of a marked plant/tree) and our Ecology experiment (until the rain made us postpone it >.<)
  • Arch of the Centuries, aSkal (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Well the arch myth almost came true for me, but somehow hardwork and stubborn refusal to believe such things can win over any myth, well, in my case anyway. WooT! Now going onto med school! Is it true that the arch was re-assembled from where it once stood in Intramuros, or was it somehow moved whole, over to where it now stands? There are a couple of interesting "panels" in the Arch, and this was pointed out to us during our tour of the University when we were still freshmen ^^ Ahh, such nice memories...
  • UST Quadricentennial Pavilion, aSkal (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Well in the past this used to be where I had my volleyball PE classes. Also this is where the Sports fests/ College sports competitions and cheering competitions were held. Were are they doing it now? Oh, and there was an old bookstore here too and a cafeteria also used to be here. Guess the carpark kinda took away the need for those...
  • Alfredo M. Velayo Building/UST Carpark, aSkal (guest) wrote 16 years ago:
Oh, and the food establishments are alright too. I like the Japanese resto/food establishment on the second floor, the ramen there is good and the sushi plates too. Hmm and Frio Mixx's pasta are alright as well. There's a pizza establishment near the candy stall and the one selling ice cream and fruit shakes, I like their seafood pizza (especially if it comes with the hot sauce). Major WIN!!!

Yep, the accountancy course is supposedly very hard and stringent, only few survive, but to those who do, a very lucrative future awaits you. I suggest those who pass to take up law as well, a good combo for Corporate Law aspirants.
